Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)

STEP Logo

STEP is the professional body for the trust and estate profession in the UK and worldwide and currently has over 15,500 members.

STEP members come from the legal, accountancy, corporate trust, banking, insurance, financial planning, professional will drafting and related professions, and are involved at all levels in the planning, creation and management of, and accounting for, trusts and estates, executorship and related taxes. Members of STEP include the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.

STEP was founded with the aim of bringing together all the senior practitioners in the field and cutting accross old established professional boundaries. Through meetings, seminars, lectures, national and international conferences and the exchange of technical papers and reports, members share information, knowledge and experience, and benefit from the network of contacts that membership provides.

The key to STEP's success lies in its network of local branches which span over 60 countries in common and civil law jurisdictions. Branches have their own committees and are responsible for their own educational and social activities.

The Society publishes an annual Membership Directory which creates coherence and allows quick and easy access to leading specialists in specific areas relating to trusts and estates. Members also receive a regular Journal and can sign up to twice-weekly email News Digests, , keeping them abreast of developments both in the Society and in the trust and estate world.

STEP membership ensures that you remain ahead of the competition, on top of regulation and at the forefront of your profession.
